May 11, 1933 - January 2, 2019
It is with great sadness what we announce the passing Ed Bonthoux at the age of 85.

Born May 11,1933 to Rachael and August Bonthoux in Wingard, Saskatchewan, he is survived by Pamela, his wife of 63 years, children Tracy (Colin), Sherry (Mike), Sandra (Tony), grandchildren Alysha, Stephanie, Cameron, Marko, Nicola, great grandson, River, and siblings Etiennette, Bernard, Irene and Robert.

Always a fireman. He started as a locomotive fireman with CP rail, spent four years in the Royal Canadian Airforce as a firefighter on the flight line including service in France. Upon returning to Canada, he and Mom settled in Penticton where he joined the fire department in 1959. He made his way up the ranks to Fire Chief in 1970 before finally retiring in 1988. As a strong community supporter, he contributed countless hours with the Royal Canadian Legion serving as President twice and other executive positions. He was the recipient of many service awards including Lifetime Membership and the Diamond Jubilee Medal for exemplary service. He was an active supporter of the local Air Cadet Squadron, and the local Air Force Association. Dad's list of accomplishments is too many to list.

He was a father, grandfather, great grandfather, father in-law, mentor and friend to many. He loved to spend his time hunting, camping and telling stories of his many trips. He was always a patient teacher and enjoyed others success more than his own.

Dad was a tough disciplinarian, but he was also fair and taught us to look at both sides of the coin and to take responsibility for our actions. Dad lived and played hard and enjoyed having his family with him every step of the way.

He was such a leader and left a legacy which will be hard to fill. We would like to especially thank Uncle Bob who faithfully spent time with Dad. Dad, we will miss you.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Penticton Fire Fighters Charitable Society.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Penticton Legion, February 2, 2019 at 12 pm.

Forever Remembered.
