Ellie Petersen passed away peacefully on January 31, 2017 at the age of 92. Born in Oshawa, ON, Ellie moved to Penticton, BC in 1990 to start a “new” life. This she did with gusto and laughter. Her many devoted family, friends and caregivers will remember her code: to always bring a smile or a laugh to those around you.
Ellie was predeceased by her parents Vera and Howard Sparkes, her husband Carsten, brother Murray Sparkes and sister Ruth Frost. She leaves to mourn, her sister Norma Kaseloo in Cambridge, ON, several nieces, nephews, and the many friends she cultivated in Ontario and Penticton.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Village by the Station and especially Ellie’s caregivers Kim, Barb, and Kathi who cared for her with such tenderness, thoughtfulness, and devotion through her last days.
A Celebration of Life is planned at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1370 Church St., Penticton, BC on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery-Columbarium, Penticton, BC. Ellie always loved her animals therefore donations can be made, in her name, to the Penticton SPCA, 2200 Dartmouth Dr., Penticton, BC V2A 4C2.
