Ernest (Ernie) Palmer Best “N” Division of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police passed away on August 7th, 2018 at the age of 81, with his family surrounding him. Ernie was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on May 11, 1937. He was predeceased by his parents Gladys (1972) and Robert (2001), and his oldest Son Rick Ernest Best in 2016.
Ernie Trained in Ottawa in 1956. His first post was in 1957 in Penticton, where he met the love of his life. Ernie and Babe married in 1961, and had 3 children. Ernie was stationed in many different communities in BC. He then spent the last 2 years of his career in Prince George, where he retired as a Staff Sergeant. The family then moved back to Summerland where he built his dream home.
Ernie decided to go back into the work force and worked for the Penticton Postal Service from 1983-2001. Once retired from the Postal Service, Ernie enjoyed spending time with Babe travelling, enjoying their property, spending time friends and with his family. Ernie is survived by his loving wife Babe, Son Randie Best, Daughter Shelie Best (Gary), Grandchildren Tyler Best, Krystal Best (Trevor), Quinton Borba (Haley) and Cole Borba, Great Grandchildren, Mason, Riley and Sofi. His Sisters Diana Hamilton and Monica (Henry) Sjogren of Wetaskiwin and many Nieces and Nephews. Ernie was an amazing Husband, friend, father and grandfather, We will all miss and love you forever.
In Lieu of Flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Canucks for Kids Fund in Ernest’s name.
A Celebration of Life (as Dad always wanted a big party) open house will take place at the home of Ernie and Babe in Summerland, 11417 Harris Road on September 1, 2018 from 2:00-5:00 pm.
