November 3, 1920 - November 10, 2020
George was born in Whitkow, Sask., the third child of eight children. He married our mother, Germaine on April 27, 1946 and they celebrated 71 years of married love and togetherness. They moved to London, Ontario early in their marriage and raised four daughters. In 1968, they moved with their family to Penticton, B.C. George worked for General Coach Mobile Homes in London and Bendix in Penticton until he retired.
George loved his hockey, baseball and curling. He enjoyed playing crib, fishing, barbecuing, solitaire, camping and visiting relatives back in Saskatchewan. His hobbies were putting together his mini-buildings made from wine corks and filling his beautiful bottles with rows of seeds and grains from Saskatchewan.
He and Germaine and his brother Henry built a small home beside the original farmhouse in Sask. where they holidayed for many summers of their retirement. He is fondly remembered for his sense of humour, practical jokes and the love he shared with all of us.
George passed away into Jesus' and our Mother's loving arms on November 10th, 2020, exactly a week after celebrating his 100th birthday. Such a milestone! George will always be lovingly be remembered by his four daughters; Sandra (John) Sutherland, Sheila (Don) Etchison, Marlee (Wayne pre-deceased) David, and Maureen (Harvey) Ryll. His grandchildren are Ryan (great-grandaughter Aria) & Tamara Sutherland; Shelane, Clayton (Morgan) & Landon Etchison; Cameron & Justin David; Megan Ryll & Nicole (Shawn) Killick.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful staff at Haven Hill Care Home and also to Dr. John Surkan for his dedicated care over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a charity of your choice.
