The family of Gwendolyn Alice Thorsteinson (nee Tilton) are saddened to announce her unexpected passing on June 2, 2018 at the University of Alberta hospital in Edmonton AB at the age of 84, with her loving husband at her side. It is with heavy hearts and overwhelming grief that we say goodbye to a wife of 65 years and mother of 7 children.
She loved her family fiercely as we did her. Ensuring our home was filled with music, laughter and love;she was a doting Grama to 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. As the matriarch, she took great pride in her ability to keep us in line with her infamous finger wag and the phrase "You don't want to see the wrath of Mom/Gramma". No one was ever brave enough to find out what that meant.
She was known for her feisty, spitfire attitude and kept to her own agenda. We could always count on her to be the smiling face in the crowd supporting her family in their various activities.
Survived by husband Donald (Gene), children Deborah, Pamela, Douglas (Shelley), Edward, Nanci,Georgina (Russell), and Sherri (Darryl), her older brother Stanley Tilton, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
No funeral as per her wishes. A private celebration of her life will be held at our family reunion she was so looking forward to attending.
