In Loving Memory ~
Ray passed away peacefully at age 87 on December 30, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley, his 2 sons, David & John and his dear sister-in-law, Sylvia.
Ray was born on September 21, 1935, in Penticton Haven Hill Hospital to Allan Hyndman & Charlotte (nee O'Keefe) who were pioneers in the Okanagan Valley.
He is survived by his sister, Frances Vansanten & predeceased by his sisters, Lois Tougas, and Mary Fitzpatrick & brother, Eric Hyndman.
Ray spent his younger years growing up on his family's beloved horse farm that spread through a large part of the southern part of Penticton.
As a young man, Ray enjoyed baseball and made the farm team of the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved to travel and play crib and was a very social and active member of both the Legion and the Elks.
He was a hardworking man and worked many years at General Homes, Loomis Couriers & the Delta Lakeside Hotel.
In 1968 he met his devoted, Shirley and after a very short courtship was married in 1969 and joined the Hungarian Balogh Family of Bert & Julia (predeceased), sisters Julie Fox (Curtis), Violet Kovacs (Julius predeceased), Sylvia Sasyniuk (Don) & Uncle Mike Radi (Suzanne) and many other extended family members.
Ray loved his sports, newspapers & politics & was a fun—loving guy always telling "bad dad" jokes and playing pranks, like slowly driving his car by sprinklers to get his passengers wet.
His favourite sayings were 2/3rds, 4/5ths & sweet bugger all, I think I will take the day off & when asked, "How ya doin Ray?" his response "Everybody!"
But there was only One and that was his little Shirley. Where you could see the two of them side by side, twice a day, every day, walking the downtown streets of Penticton to their favourite coffee shops.
Well, Ray, you did it! 9 lives later you made the paper just like you said you would, and your family & friends look forward to celebrating your life this Spring where an announcement will follow at a later date.
A special thanks to Dr. Dekock & the wonderful nurses & doctors of PRH for your compassionate care.
