SHARPE, Hazel

1922 - 2016

Hazel Sharpe (nee Nicol) of Penticton passed away peacefully at Trinity Care Centre on Friday, July 8, 2016, at the age of 94 years. She is survived by her two sons, Ron of Victoria, B.C., and David of Athens, Ohio, and her two grandchildren, Jeff and Jill, both of Calgary, AB, as well as sister-in-law Audrey, many nephews and nieces and was predeceased by her three brothers (Leonard, Harold, and Floyd) and sister Norma.

Hazel touched the lives of many people in the years she lived in Penticton, Vancouver, Victoria, and Kelowna. Outgoing and talkative, fiercely independent, she will be remembered as a unique personality. Always physically frail, she countered all difficulties with a strong will and self-discipline. Her love of animals, her artistic sense expressed in paintings, clothing, and decorations, her love of music – all of this has been passed on and will be kept alive.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Trinity Care Centre for their dedication and compassion. An informal reception will be held in Hazel’s honour on Friday, August 12, in the central garden at Trinity, 75 Green Avenue West -- stop by any time from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
