It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that we share the passing of Ingrid Quarterman, of Summerland, BC, on November 25, 2024, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Ingrid was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend. Ingrid will be dearly missed by her children: Shannon Quarterman (Steve), Craig Quarterman (Jen), Keith and Jessica Quarterman, and her granddaughter, Brooke Quarterman.
Ingrid was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan, on November 17, 1957. After meeting her future husband, John, while she was backpacking in Australia in 1978, the pair travelled through Australia and Asia before making their way back to London to meet John's family. Ingrid sponsored John to move to Canada and they were married on August 9, 1980.
Ingrid had a love of travelling. Along with John and their three children, they travelled throughout western Canada and the United States and took the kids to London to visit John's family. When Ingrid wasn't travelling with her family, she loved music, camping, gardening, dirt-biking, and fishing, and she would be sure to tease you if she out-fished you. After John passed, Ingrid continued to travel with her kids, travelling to Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Disneyland, the Dominican Republic, Scotland, England, and Paris. In her later years, Ingrid enjoyed her time in Summerland with her dog Pepper and her well-maintained garden, sometimes working on a puzzle on the kitchen table. According to Ingrid, nothing would beat an ice-cold beer, fresh green tomatoes off the vine, some hot weather and listening to Rod Stewart.
Besides her husband John, Ingrid was also predeceased by her mother, Frieda, and her siblings Joe, Loretta, Gerry and Linda. Ingrid was also predeceased by her loyal and loving dog Pepper.
As per Ingrid's request, we did not hold a funeral or celebration of life. We will have a small private burial, with her three kids, their partners, and her granddaughter, in early Spring 2025. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, John, and her dog, Pepper, in Kamloops, BC.
