In Loving Memory ~
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Iris Densmore, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and faithful friend.
Iris was born in Ladysmith, BC, to parents, Charles and Janet Thomson, immigrants from Scotland. Iris was the youngest of four children and although her mother passed away when she was two, she was brought up in a happy and loving home.
Iris had an adventurous and independent spirit, traveling throughout Europe in her 20's for a year. Following her trip, she met and fell in love with Chuck Densmore, marrying in 1959. With their growing family in tow, they moved from Vancouver to Penticton in 1964, making Penticton their home until their passings.
Throughout Iris' life, she worked at various jobs within healthcare. Iris worked primarily as a medical office assistant, loving her work so much, she retired at 75 years old.
Iris will be remembered for her hospitality. She loved to cook and bake and her home was always open to all.
Iris was a gifted musician. She played the piano, organ and accordion. She was church organist for many years. She brought her love of music into her home and passed her talent on to her daughters.
Iris was sadly predeceased by her loving husband, Chuck, son in law, Scott MacVicar, and precious grandson, Graham Scarlett. She was also predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Jean (Jimmy) Houston, Alec (Phyllis) Thomson and Laura (Garf) McDonald.
Iris is survived and greatly missed by her daughters, Heather Scarlett, Diane (Al) Reimer and Sandra MacVicar. Grandchildren, Gregory Scarlett, Brett Reimer, Kendra (Brandon) Cosens, Mark (Rachel) Reimer, Donovan and Brayden MacVicar, great grandson, Levi Cosens and many friends and extended family.
Iris will be remembered for her strong faith in God and her unwavering commitment to family.
