BITSCHY, JEAN LYONS
1921 - 2016
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother. Mom died peacefully on August 10, 2016 at the age of 94.
She was born November 19, 1921 in Edinburgh, Scotland and came to Canada as a war bride in 1946, settling in Penticton the following year.
Mom’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She particularly looked forward to her lunches out with her three granddaughters. They shared many laughs together and the granddaughters always enjoyed the stories she would tell them of her early years growing up in Scotland. She also had a passion for her daily walks which she did for many years and continued until a few months ago.
Mom is survived by her daughters, Moira (Wayne) and Heather (Jack); grandchildren Candace (Greg), Sean (Gina), Melissa (Jamie), Adrienne (Shane), Erica (Bryan); great grandchildren, Mya, Andie, Ellie and Kaleah. Jean was predeceased by her husband Ed in 2000 and grandson, Scott, in 2003.
The family would like to thank the assisted living staff at The Village By The Station for the loving care and friendship they provided mom for the past six years. She loved you dearly.
We also wish to thank the staff at complex care at The Village for the incredible care Mom received during the last several weeks of her life. Thank you to Dr. Hughes, Dr. Dutchman and Dr. Toneff for their compassionate care and as Mom would have said, for being so kind to her. Mom was such an important part of our family. She was loving, caring and always there when we needed her. Rest in peace Mom. We love you and miss you. No service by request.
