January 2, 1928 - December 18, 2022
Jutta passed away peacefully in Penticton, BC - just 2 weeks shy of her 95th birthday.
She was predeceased by her husband Helmut Huttemann in 2018 and will be very sadly missed by her sons Greg (Madeleine) and Tim (Denise), daughter Jennifer (Fin), and grandchildren Christopher, Nicholas, Julie, Tia, Lily.
Jutta was born in Kiel, Germany and loved travelling and hiking in Europe. She worked as a legal secretary in Stuttgart. In 1956 she came to Canada by steamship to visit her mother and step-father and ended up living there for the rest of her long life. One of her first jobs in Canada was at the Banff Springs Hotel as a chambermaid. She met Helmut in Penticton and they were married in 1959. They lived in a variety of towns and cities in BC and that contributed to her love of visiting her children in Fort St. John, Hazelton, and Surrey as well as travelling to Alaska by cruise ship, the northern half of Vancouver Island by commercial steamer and the Yukon. Jutta and Helmut settled down in North Vancouver and lived in their home for 35 years until retirement brought them back to Penticton.
Jutta loved to socialize and enjoyed baking, playing badminton and card games, particularly Bridge. She loved reading, especially Canadian authors and loved to hear about the adventures of her grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Village by the Station in Penticton for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation.
