HACK

Margaret Miller (nee Connery)

(1906 – 2016)

Rob Hulton, Deb, Kerry, Toni, and Dana Klamut are sad to announce the passing of their oldest family member, Margaret Hack, on July 10, 2016.

Margaret was born May 16, 1906 to Mary and James Connery in Kildonan, Manitoba. In 1928, she married the love of her life, Edward John Hack. The couple enjoyed 73 years together. In the 1940s they moved to the Hack Ranch at Dead Man’s Lake. Margaret worked at the Oliver Co-op Packing House for a number of years. After retirement, they moved to Osoyoos.

Margaret and Edward loved the cruise ship life. The couple went on many cruises including two world cruises. Margaret’s second love was her extensive doll collection; a storybook was never complete without dolls to portray the scenes.

Margaret earned the title of B.C.’s current oldest living person and Canada’s third oldest living person upon her 110th birthday this year. Margaret is survived by relatives and friends from across Canada and the U.S.A.

The family wishes to thank Mariposa Gardens and their staff, as well as Lita Reid, for the years of care Margaret received. As per Margaret’s request, there will not be a service.

Donations may be made in her honour to the new Patient Care Tower of the Penticton Regional Hospital by contacting South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation 550 Carmi Ave., Penticton, B.C. V2A 3G6. or online at http://sosmedicalfoundation.com/donate-now/
