Margaret Mary Light

July 2, 2016

Margaret Light passed away peacefully on July 2, 2016 at the Penticton Hospital. Margaret was born December 25, 1926 in Cutknife, Saskatchewan to parents Herbert and Lucy Brock. The family then grew to include Lloyd, Edgar, Sylvia and Bert. After being raised in Carruthers, SK Margaret moved to Battleford SK and then on to Penticton, BC. She met Jack Light at a dance in Okanagan Falls, BC and they were soon married and began to raise their family on the homestead at Three Mile Road. Margaret worked at the Incola Hotel on first arriving in Penticton and then, in her married years, she worked at the Aylmer Cannery, Penticton Co-op Packing House and the Naramata Co-op. Raising four children and helping on the home orchard occupied her days. Margaret loved horseback riding, camping with family and friends, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting and, of course, shopping for sweaters. Margaret took great pride in her rose garden and the variety of birds living in her yard. Jack and Margaret also took in many a square dance jamboree held in Penticton. Survived by her children: Marlane McMaster (Richard), Marie Cadorette (AJ), Grant Light (Heidi), Gordon Light (Sue), 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sadly predeceased by her husband Jack Light, parents Herbert and Lucy Brock, brother Lloyd Brock, sister Sylvia Edstrom and grandson David Howe. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-5pm on July 30th, 2016 at the United Church Hall, corner of Robinson Ave and 3rd Street, Naramata, BC.
