Passed away Sunday, November 14th, 2021, at Westview Care. Predeceased by her husband Arthur and brothers John McRae and Douglass McRae. Survived by her sons Glenn David Stebbing (Margaret) and Michael Arthur Stebbing (Lee) and by grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Do not mourn too long a life well lived and Marjorie, herself, would tell you she had a wonderful life. Born in Vancouver, a childhood during the depression with her father often ill from WWI injuries, her mother struggled but managed. Then in WWII she and her girlfriends met a group of British sailors here to accept and man an aircraft carrier on lend lease from the USA. They would write for the rest of the war and an engagement ring arrived by mail from South Africa. With the war ended Arthur returned to Vancouver to find the wedding already planned out.
Post war employment and housing was a struggle for a non-Canadian Vet. and eventually Arthur joined the RCAF. Our Mother would say that decision gave them a wonderful life. Postings to three provinces, England, France and Germany, they loved the travel and the military social life suited them both. Once her two sons were grown, she excelled at all of her varied employment. When time for retirement came they travelled through and fell in love with Penticton and spent their remaining days here. Theirs was a long and happy union.
A special thank you to the staff at both The Hamlets and Westview for their kindness and care for Marjorie and yes, all those stories she liked to tell of her life were true.
A private graveside service has been held by the family.
