In loving memory ~

Marlene was born in Bury, England to parents Jack and Mona Heaton. This is where she spent her growing up years until she immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her first husband and the eldest of her three girls. Marlene resided in North Vancouver where she raised her girls as mostly a single Mum.

In 1976 she met the love of her life, Alan, and this relationship moved very quickly and they proceeded to get married and start their life journey together. They stayed in North Vancouver until retirement then made the decision to relocate to Penticton. This is where Marlene made a new set of good friends and proceeded to become the crafting Queen of Penticton. Marlene would spend hours crafting and found great pleasure in it.

Marlene and Alan loved to entertain and proceeded to have many gatherings around her dining room table which were enjoyed by all. She also enjoyed a brandy or two (not that she would admit to it!). There were also many, many family visits as the years went by and as all the grandchildren started arriving. There was usually a grandchild having little holiday at Nana's and Grandpa's.

They lived a lovely life enjoying trips back to England to see family, the odd cruise and many other adventures. It was very difficult for Marlene when she lost Alan in October of 2013.

Unfortunately, Marlene had a number of health issues that proceeded to increase dramatically as she aged. She would put on a brave front and battle through, but eventually things just became more difficult for her. The last 2 years were especially hard and she proceeded to just have a hard time living daily life. Marlene is resting peacefully now, she will be in our thoughts and hearts now.

Marlene is predeceased by daughter, Gail in 1985; husband, Alan in 2013.

She is survived by her daughters, Lesley (Graham) and Susan (Dave); multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as the Hird family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene's memory would be welcomed to the BC Cancer Foundation.
