August 3, 1960 - April 26, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Chris.
On April 26, 2020 Chris passed away at home, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his wife Diana, children, Matt, Rachel and Aidan, his mother Katie Brot of Summerland, extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by his father,
Alain and his sister, Natalie.
Chris was born and raised in Penticton and loved the Okanagan. In 1984, he moved t to Vancouver to study Survey Technology at BCIT and completed his Diploma in 1986. After a winter spent surveying near Norman Wells in the Northwest Territories, he packed up his motorcycle and rode south to San Diego. He spent the next two years working in the construction industry and soaking up the sun (one of his true passions).
He eventually moved back to Penticton where he began working for the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. In 1994, he accepted a position with the Ministry Paving Branch in Parksville. He settled on the Island and continued this career for the next 26 years, most recently as the Manager of Field Services - Paving for Southern BC.
Shortly after moving to the island Chris met his wife Diana and her two children Matt and Rachel. In 2000, the family welcomed a baby boy, Aidan. The family built their dream home on an acreage near Parksville which is where they currently reside.
Chris was a fun loving, kind and caring man who valued spending time with his family. Much of this time was spent hanging around the pool where Chris would be wearing one of his signature, oversized Tommy Bahama shirts, a look that suited him well. His favorite vacation spot was Maui and family vacations were often spent there. We only wish we could have had one more.
He was passionate about sports and was very involved as a parent, coach and fan with Oceanside Youth Baseball. His voice could be heard at every game he attended. He also loved getting out on the course to play a round of golf or a weekend away to catch a live professional sporting event with friends. He played competitive tennis in his younger years and continued to play throughout his adult life, just as competitively! He regularly joked that his family life halted the sports career he was destined for.
Chris's great sense of humour and ability to crack a joke even at the most serious times will be missed by us all. Life will never be the same without him in our world.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vancouver Island Lodge - Canadian Cancer Society.
Due to the Covid 19 virus, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date (to be announced).
