Myrtle was born in Rimbey, Alberta on September 3rd, 1924 and passed away peacefully in Penticton Hospital on March 22nd, 2016 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years (Lawrence) and her daughter Kathleen (Alan), and son Ken (Myrna). She was also predeceased by her sister Florence and her brother Charlie. She is survived by her children, Bob (Lois), Barry (Linda), and Brad (Lisa). Myrtle was adored by her 12 grandchildren and 10 great -grandchildren who loved playing her piano at 1330 Duncan Ave. Myrtle and Lawrence were long-time Penticton residents having moved from Calgary in 1964. Together they operated the original boat rental beside the SS Sicamous and Kelly’s Grocery across the street. After raising her family, Myrtle worked at Sears for many years. She was also an active volunteer, being a Past Matron and Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star for almost 50 years. She was also a past member of the United Church Women, and of TOPS where she had many other friends. Myrtle and Lawrence were also long-time members of the Totem and Twin Lakes Golf courses. Myrtle’s friendly manner saw her develop many friendships, including those at the Hamlets where she spent her final few years. She will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother and friend who always put the interests of others before her own. Myrtle’s Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, May 21st at Everden Rust.
