It is with great sadness that the family of Shaun William Pattenden announce his passing at 5:35 pm on Saturday, January 20 at Kelowna General Hospital, He was six days shy of his 35th birthday.
Born on January 26, 1983 in Penticton, BC, Shaun attended Princess Margaret Secondary School before moving to Red Deer, Alberta to pursue a career in the oil industry, a career he loved and was proud of.
He will be dearly missed by his parents: Sandra Waid and Murray Pattenden (wife Judee and daughter Kaitee); his wife, Sarah (nee Friedrich); sister, Jennifer Waid (husband Dominic Wheeler; children Shyla and Kieran); step brothers, Devlin and Michael and his son Alexander (mother LaRae).
Also left to mourn his passing are his grandparents, Jim and Elaine Waid; uncle Robert; aunt Lynn and cousins, Brandon and James.
As an avid video game fan, Shaun had a large community of online friends who will also mark his passing. He enjoyed giving game advice and showing people new video games including his pride and joy, "Journeys of the Few", a game he spent most of his life working on creating. He was also a talented artist, hard worker, kind, funny, generous, loving, compassionate and a caring young man. He had a contagious laugh that brought many to tears.
He loved hiking with his dad and being outdoors. Joining him in the afterlife is his beloved dog, Zenia, who passed away on January 6th.
His family would like to thank the staff and nurses in the Penticton ICU for their kind and compassionate care, especially nurse Tedy and doctors Forzley and Davidson.
"Mumsie" will miss you, I love you my son. No funeral by request.
