Simone passed away peacefully on February 22, 2017 at the Hamlets in Penticton.

Simone was born in Lac Pelletier, Saskatchewan to Joseph and Beatrice Monette. Growing up with 14 siblings and helping her parents run the general store and post office was an important part of her young life.

Simone married Ed Spence October 11, 1956 and moved to Swift Current, Saskatchewan where she helped Ed run his family ranch for several years.

Simone and Ed moved to Fernie, BC in 1965 where they started their business “Ed’s Sport Center” As their sons grew up and after 15 successful years Simone and Ed moved to Penticton, BC where they retired and enjoyed traveling, time with the family and their six grandchildren. Simone loved kids and throughout her life looked forward to looking after her nieces on extended visits and later to baby sit her many grandchildren. She loved her “little” dogs and cats and spent countless hours gardening and tending to her beautiful flowers.

Simone was a huge hockey and baseball fan who never missed a game and kept track of all the stats. She enjoyed following her son’s sports and also her grand-children’s activities and loved the color “Blue”!

Simone was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be forever loved and remembered by her son’s Perry (Brenda), Kelly (Karla), and Rene (Sharon). Also her six grandchildren; Arielle, Luke, Ian, Desiree, Selina and Marlo. Her brother Andre, Sisters; Francoise, Monique, Marcelle and many nieces and nephews.

Sadly predeceased by her loving husband Ed Spence, her Maman Beatrice Roy, her Papa Joseph Monette and several brothers and sisters; Claire, Madelaine, Beatrice, Irene, Alice, Lorenzo, Philippe, Rosaire and Armande.

Thank you to the staff who provided care in her final months at the Hamlets in Penticton.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to the Penticton Regional Hospital Tower.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Providence Funeral Chapel on March 16, 2017 at 1:00pm.
