October 12, 2020
1960-2020 ~ Stephen was taken from us tragically on Oct 12, 2020. He passed away at the Kelowna General Hospital from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision. He left this world peacefully with his wife and daughters holding him close.
Steve will be forever loved and missed by Tracy, the love of his life, his wife and best friend of 30 years. For always he will be loved and missed by Siobhan (Jeremy) Steve's daughter from his first marriage, and also loved and forever missed by Hayley (John), Steve and Tracy's daughter together.
As well Grandpa/Papa will be forever held in the hearts of his precious grandchildren Alice, James, Thomas and little Isabella. Steve will also always be loved and forever remembered by Nicole, his step-daughter from his first marriage, and by Grandpa Steve's wonderful step-grandchildren Grace, Lukas, and Lex.
He was so proud of them all and always made an effort to tell them.
Stephen will be forever loved and remembered by his mother Dora Bystrom, sisters Elisabeth Dahnert and Deborah Wilson, his nieces and nephews, all of his extended family and many, many dear friends. Stephen was predeceased by his friend and step-father, Albert Bystrom.
Steve was an infectiously passionate person who loved life and everything it had to offer. He loved his wife, his family, his home, sunshine, creating wooden works of art, and his cat Razzy.
Steve was a true romantic who cherished every moment he had with Tracy. Steve adored all of his grandchildren and the joy and love he had for them was beyond limits. He was an Electrical trades instructor at Okanagan College in Penticton for almost 15 years. He loved his job, his past and present students, and the many co-workers he called friends. Steve was an unbelievably hard worker who put his all into everything he did.
The family offers great gratitude to the staff and surgeons at Kelowna General Hospital and the first responders; their efforts, kindness and compassion are appreciated.
Due to covid restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Stephen was a proud blood donor and would ask that in lieu of flowers or gifts that you considering giving the gift of life and donating blood in his memory.
