December 17, 1923 - April 27, 2024

In loving memory ~

We announce with sadness the passing of our Mother, Thelma, at Courtyard Gardens, Richmond BC, on April 27, 2024.

Thelma was born to Percy and Grace Bent in December 1923 at Penticton.

She is predeceased by brothers Alan, Arnold (Barney), and sister Sheila, and former husband George. She is survived by daughter Susanne, sons John, Owen and Donald, and grandson Jack.

Many of her age enrolled in the nursing schools in 1943 supporting the war effort against the Axis Powers. She served at Penticton Hospital and St Paul's in Vancouver.

After the war she married George Lloyd in 1947 and settled in Vancouver, later moving to North Vancouver.

When the children were grown, she entered the travel agency business, discovering a passion for travel to places like Australia, Zimbabwe and the Caribbean. Upon retiring in 2000 she settled in Richmond BC, with many years of membership in the Richmond

Textile Arts Guild showing her skills in sewing, quilting and swapping bins of interesting coloured cloth samples and fabrics with her friends.

Her favourite charity was the SOS Children's Villages Society, which operates a thrift store in the Steveston area of Richmond.

A Celebration of Life will be announced.
