Victor William Coulthard

November 21, 1934 – October 4, 2019
Our dad, VICTOR WILLIAM COULTHARD of Kenora, Ontario passed away in Penticton Regional Hospital on October 04, 2019.
He was born to parents Thomas and Clara Coulthard on the family homestead in Riverside Municipality, Manitoba on November 21, 1934.
Dad always said there was no way he was going to be a farmer so after he married he moved to Kenora, Ontario.
He tried his hand at several jobs including delivering bread, brakeman on the railroad and maintenance worker for Bell Canada. Eventually, he found his place as an automotive mechanic and ended his career at Dingwall Ford.
Dad’s most frightening and satisfying achievement was placing top of his class, (with a grade 9 education) in a room filled with much younger men than himself, all training to be mechanics.
Dad was a quiet, hardworking, private gentleman. However, beneath that quiet exterior lurked a prankster, willing to wait patiently behind doors and in closets for the perfect moment to leap out. Thereby, eliciting screams of fear, fits of laughter and a good chase throughout the house. He always enjoyed a good laugh and no one was safe from his friendly teasing.
Other than picking rocks (inside joke), Dad’s favourite pastime was music and dancing. We were all taught to dance at a very early age and shared his enthusiasm throughout our lives. Dad was lucky to have found love three times, first with Florence, with whom he raised three awesome children, and again with Alice, whom he spent forty plus years travelling, dancing away the winters in B.C. and enjoying summers at home. He shared the last couple of years with his dear friend, Cecile, who remained by his side to the end.
His legacy – three children that enriched his life with grandchildren: Jennifer, Michael, Brett, Micheal and Brandi, and great-grandchildren: Seth, Caleb, Mackenzie and Laine.
He’ll be sorely missed by all of his family, his sister Della and his friends (in particular, his dance partners in Manitoba and B.C).
By request there will be no service. We invite family and friends to honour Dad’s life with a donation to the cancer society.
Keep on Dancing, Dad Love Deana, Shirley and Thomas
