On Tuesday April 12, 2016, Mr. William (Bill) Harvey of Penticton passed away peacefully at the Penticton Regional Hospital at the age of 99 years. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Anastasia Markowsky; grandson Owen Lee Markosky and half-sister Marilyn Campbell (nee Galganetz). Bill will be fondly remembered by his loving wife (Greta) Ella Daphne Markowsky; son Ernest “Ernie” (Sylvia) Markosky grandchildren Wendy-Lynn Markosky and Aron Lane Markosky; half-sister Ann Carson (nee Galganetz), age 95 years of Portland, Oregon as well as many nieces and nephews in the United States and Canada. Bill could only speak Ukrainian when starting school but achieved all grades to High School and University Matriculation in six years. In later years he learned and spoke pure Ukrainian. He often translated for public speakers in whatever language was required. He also understood many other European languages and helped Doctors to understand their patients needs, becoming like a second Doctor.

Bill worked as a carpenter, builder and general contractor over the years. He worked for the Vegreville School Division, he built a hospital in Cutknife, SK, various churches and a firehall in Myrnum, Alberta as well as many other businesses.

He also liked to travel and enjoyed trips to Australia, New Zealand, the British Isles, Fiji, Vanuatu, the Cook Islands, Hawaii, the United States, the Canadian Arctic and a trip train across Canada to the Maritimes.

Over the years Bill was very involved with the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Canada and Fiji. Bill helped with building, donated his time and money and with the Ministry of Encouragement in Fiji and Vanuatu. He received many cards and letters of appreciation from across Canada and the Pacific Islands. He also greatly enjoyed building in all its phases and building carts for kids.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Monday April 25, 2016 at the Penticton Seventh-day Adventist Church followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment and committal will be held at 3:00 pm at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery.
