August 2, 1942 - July 15, 2018
Predeceased by his parents Charles Waldie and Catherine Cecilia Roberts Waldie and survived by his extended family of friends.

Former RCMP Officer, SPCA Officer, and founding Member of Wine Country Walkways Society.

Bill cycled the roads of the South Okanagan before riding became popular. He biked the trails above Naramata for many years, switching to hiking them at age 70.

Bill helped save the KVR Trail section from Vancouver Hill to Poplar Grove from being sold to adjacent property owners and helped build the McCulloch Trestle.

With friends, Bill planned, built and named many of the original Three Blind Mice trails, such as Mule Deer, Marmot, Corral, Crow, Ponderosa, Pine Cone, Black Bear, Coyote, Dead Horse, and Rattle Snake. He improved many others, such as Chipmunk, Fred, Three Witches, Squirrel, Turnbull, Narnia, Bobcat, Boneyard, Gopher and Rusty Muffler. He helped maintain all the trails for many years.

Bill knew the hills above Naramata better than anyone. He produced the original Map of Trails in the Mice and promoted the trails to the mountain bike community in hopes that the area would be preserved. Success came when the Penticton and Area Cycling Association adopted the area for hiking and biking.

Bill will be missed by all that knew him or met him on the trail.
