William McKay

October 22, 1948 - July 13, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Arthur McKay on July 13, 2017 in Okanagan Falls, BC.

Bill was born on October 22, 1948 in The Pas, MB to the parents of James and Betty McKay. Bill spent his early years in Flin Flon, MB where at an early age he found his passion for cars and fishing. On many weekends Bill and his brother Jim could be found building their rod or demolition car for Trappers Festival.

Bill moved to Saskatoon, SK and then on to Edmonton, AB where he became a master mechanic, building high performance engines for a specialty shop before moving to Western Engine Rebuilders until his retirement. Bill retired in Okanagan Falls, BC where he lived for the past 10 years.

Bill’s greatest love in life was his two sons, Bill Jr. and Jodie who were often found at their Dad’s side camping and fishing on many family vacations.

Bill is predeceased by his parents Jim and Betty. He is survived by his sons Bill Jr. (Leah), Jodie (Deirdra) and four beautiful grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his siblings; Jim, Judy, Lynda, Garry, Wayne, Allan, Dennis and their families.

The family would like to send a special thank you to our sister Lynda for being at Bill’s side for the past 10 years as he struggled with his health.

A special thank you to Bill’s neighbours and the community of Okanagan Falls, BC for their support.
