In your recent editorial on whether or not retired district staff should be rehired to work — “Motion overlooks value of experience” Oct. 12 — I’m not sure double dipping is the most important issue here. In fact, I think a more important point has been missed.
You may correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s my understanding that it is district practice (if not policy) not to hire retired teachers for the on-call list.
If that is the case then why would the district be hiring retired former senior administrators or senior district staff? Surely these rules should be applied equally to any retired personnel. And that would include those in the upper echelon.
