I would like to extend a thank you to the driver of the white truck that provided the “pick” for me on Eastside Road on the southern boundary of Penticton recently.
I was out for a run and came around the bend and encountered a black bear within 20 feet of me. Well, needless to say that elevated both my heart rate and my speed as I hoped for a quick getaway.
However, the bear seemed to want to introduce him or herself to me. As social as I am, I really wasn’t that interested in meeting him/her. He continued to follow me down the road as I ran backwards away from him until the white truck showed up and provided an escape for me.
Thank you again, and hopefully I don’t need that kind of help again.
