Judgments out of line

There will always be cyclists on the road and they will always break the traffic laws

I would like to address the letter to Jane Turnell, who stated in her letter that cyclists should know better.

You sure have a lot of negative judgments about these cyclists. Moronic. That “stupid woman on the sidewalk!” I don’t know if you are talking about Ironman competitors or the average recreational cyclist. Either way, your judgments about them say way more about you than them.

I have lived in OK Falls for over five years and have never felt inconvenienced by the cyclists. Yes, there sure are a lot of them in the days leading up to the triathlon; I still don’t think they are moronic or stupid.

You have no idea what was going on in that woman’s life who was pulling the trailer behind her on her bike. I know what appearances can look like, and we make snap judgments (especially if you already think cyclists are moronic). She had a reason for riding where and how she was and we really don’t know those reasons.

There will always be cyclists on the road and they will always break the traffic laws. You are going to have to learn to deal with that. Calling them moronic, selfish and stupid only keeps you angry at them. Be glad you have a car and don’t need to ride a bike. Though a bike is certainly cheaper transportation.
