KVR Trail plan supported

The Woodwackers have decided to strongly support the plan to close a portion of the KVR Trail to motorized vehicles

From 2010 onward, the Woodwackers have approved various motions to “recommend the closure of the KVR Trail to all motorized vehicles  from the Penticton boundary to the north end of the Little Tunnel.

The Woodwackers met on Nov. 27 to discuss the draft plan for KVR Trail development, as presented at the public meeting held in Naramata on Sept. 18. The Woodwackers have decided to strongly support this plan.

In the interest of finding an interim solution, the Woodwackers recommend the Naramata KVR Users Working Group invite the newly formed “Keep Our KVR Accessible To All” group (KOKATA) to discuss options for motorized access to the KVR between Glen Fir and the north end of the Little Tunnel.

Clarification is required on motorized use (cars, trucks, ATVs and dirt bikes, etc.).  It is unclear as to where usage of these different types of motorized registered and unregistered vehicles would be permitted in the current draft plan.

A motorized users group (perhaps KOKATA) could help in the planning, development and maintenance of the additional roads required to provide  motorized vehicle access.  The Woodwackers will continue to maintain the KVR Trail, as they have in the past, regardless of usage.
