I want to thank those RCMP officers out there over this past weekend doing a great job with a traffic enforcement blitz.
I would have loved to have seen a breakdown of the age groups. My reason is simple. A lot of seniors feel we are being given a bad rap because of our age. But some of what I read in this article (Penticton Western News, March 7, Traffic blitz results in 200 enforcement actions) leads me to believe a great many of those caught were under the age of 80.
I personally would like to see here in Penticton, a ICBC division for drivers testing. And, no matter who or what age, those who are caught should have to be re-tested. Along with this is the fact that so many seniors have to travel quite a distance into Kelowna for their tests, which is not only irritating, but gas is not inexpensive, extra wear on the car and a serious problem for someone if they don’t get through the test being on their own and living is a small community in which the Greyhound bus no longer services.
Driving is not a right as many think, but “a privilege.”
