Letter: Bylaw hits the streets

I am optimistic that the strategy will be so successful

I would like to add my voice to those of my fellow citizens who are in full support of bylaw department’s strategy for restoring safety, security and cleanliness in our beautiful city.

I understand why the current focus is on the downtown core — vacation season has started and the Downtown Penticton Association, in particular, doesn’t want tourists to be faced with a negative perception of our city. I am optimistic that the strategy will be so successful that city managers and council will support expanding the scope to include all of Main Street and Skaha Lake Road, from Okanagan Lake all the way to Skaha Lake.

The emphasis on treating homeless residents with respect and providing them with resource information (prepared by 100 Homes Penticton) is commendable and, hopefully, appreciated by all.
