The shameful, embarrassing sexual abuse and upheaval crisis in the Roman Catholic Church goes back thru the centuries to Abel and Caine.

“Holy mother church” is like a giant iceberg gradually melting away in a vast sea of indifference.

It’s a historic institution, saddled or smothered with ritual, dogma and theatre that carried out its mission through the centuries with discipline and fear by a clergy held in high, unquestionable esteem yet fixated on celibacy and male domination.

Today, badly bruised Holy mother church limps along on two entities. One leg made up of the laity doing its own thing, according to its conscience.

The other leg, the clergy and its hierarchy who are hung up with their scandals and lack of credibility.

Jesus’ message is very simple, “Love one another as I have loved you.”

Might be wise to keep it that way.
