Letter: Keep checking for distracted drivers

When the police do mobile phone and seat belt checks on drivers, they have their priorities correct

Penticton Western News letters to the editor.

I would like to respond to Mark Billesberger’s letter (Penticton Western News, March 16, RCMP resources) questioning the priorities Penticton RCMP have.

When the police do mobile phone and seat belt checks on drivers, they have their priorities correct.

I only wish the penalties for distracted driving were as severe as they are for driving over the legal blood alcohol limit. Roadside licence suspensions and impounding vehicles might finally get the message across to the hardcore drivers who continue to endanger the lives of innocent drivers, pedestrians and cyclists as well as their own.
