Penticton Western News letters to the editor.

So sorry so many missed a truly beautiful concert in St. Saviour’s Church on Saturday evening.

A fundraiser, the faculty of The Penticton Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts presented a beautiful evening of music. From Celtic, to an original score composed by Nicholas Kelly and performed by members of the faculty, it was a delightful evening for all ages.

Featured faculty members were Mia Harris; voice, Misty Knol; flute, Olivia Walsh; cello, Evelyn Krieger; piano, Caroline Mackay; harp, Debbie McGladdery; speech and drama, Selwyn Redivo; classical guitar and Christine Robinson; with a degree in opera performance. AnamCara, with three Celtic harps were guest performers.

The event supported the academy’s mission to provide an excellent music educational source for students of all ages and circumstances. Our community is enriched by the existence of the academy, located in the beautiful old Leir House, an original historical home created in stone with a parklike setting. It is home for many facets of the arts, and includes several rooms for artist studios, for music rooms, a kitchen, dining and livingroom, for social events. It is open to the public, with an administrator’s office to welcome you.

Upcoming concerts: May 6, 2 p.m. student recital at the Leir House. June 3, 2 p.m., year-end gala concert at St. Saviour’s Church. The Academy String Orchestra holds its annual bursary benefit concert on June 20, 7 p.m. at St. Saviour’s Church.
