Periodically re-examining how British Columbians are represented in the legislature is a valid and necessary exercise.

It ensures the parliamentary system surrounding government remains relevant. However, for any such reform to be valid, the process should be overseen by an independent body that represents all citizens, arms-length from any political influence. This referendum is just the opposite. It has been designed by politicians with a stake in the outcome. Political parties are naturally biased when given a say in how they achieve power.

Until such time there is a non-partisan process that studies and communicates electoral reform options in an evidence-based and balanced manner, I’ll be voting to keep the current First Past the Post voting system on my ballot.
