Letter: Speed cameras are a good start

I’m endorsing taking steps to remedy an otherwise out of control situation on the roads

Penticton Western News letters to the editor.

If speed cameras are a cash grab, I have no problem with the government grabbing cash from the idiots who endanger life and property on public roads and highways.

I lived through the Ontario photo radar program under an NDP government. It was the only time that there existed some semblance of sanity on the 401 highways in southern Ontario.

I’m not endorsing an NDP initiative; I’m endorsing taking steps to remedy an otherwise out of control situation on the roads.

Cameras are a good start. Habitual speeders aren’t deterred with a slap on the wrist. Get their attention with serious fines.

Let them scream as much as they want about cash-grabbing. It’s not brain surgery; don’t speed and drive stupidly and your money stays in your pockets.
