LETTER: Sweet sound of live music in Penticton

I was in the proximity of Princess Margaret Secondary when I heard some good music.

I was in the proximity of Princess Margaret Secondary when I heard some good music and wondered whether the sounds were pre-recorded or was it an actual band.

I could see in the distance what looked like some students holding horns and even though my day was already behind schedule I had to know for sure.

Driving into the parking lot I could see and hear these superb sounds were being produced by students for some kind of outside function. I especially noticed the kit drummer’s fantastic gentle feel and the electric bass player was quite in command of his instrument. The guitar player sounded great as did the whole unit comprised of, among other instruments, many well blended  horns.

Live music is not at the forefront as much as it was when I was these students age, however I  am happy to hear the art form is healthy and will carry on. A big congratulations to band teacher Don Grant and all the members of the sweet sounding Princess Margaret Jazz Band, play on.
