On April 25 our son went out on a hike that turned into an all night adventure he was not prepared for.
If you are going into the backcountry please be sure to take an old school compass, and an emergency rescue blanket. Your phone may not be too reliable when it is cold and there is no cell service. Make a plan, set a return time and leave a map with someone.
We are very fortunate to have a happy ending to this ordeal. Many thanks to Search and Rescue and RCMP for their help, time and effort. This poem was written by our son to Search and Rescue.
Relentless and regretless, they pushed the boundaries of my maps
Heart full and hopeful they followed the tracks of my laps
Instant action over my distant traction, they volunteered their time
Honest and modest, I thank you for your kilometres with this rhyme.
