It was great to see so much activity in February surrounding Pink Shirt Day and anti-bullying in our valley.
The Penticton Western News coverage was exceptional and helped send a powerful anti-bullying message throughout the month. Let’s remember that the anti-bullying campaign doesn’t just apply to February, but needs to be part of our lives and our community all year.
The South Okanagan Grandmothers for Africa are pleased to be able to sponsor an event which will be a great continuation of this timely and important topic.
On April 20 in the Penticton Lakeside Ballroom, Barbara Coloroso will be doing a presentation, introducing her thoroughly updated and expanded new edition of her book, The Bully, the Bullied and the Not-So-Innocent Bystander. Coloroso is an internationally renowned speaker, educator and best selling author. She recently retired from the Board of the Stephen Lewis Foundation and has gifted the Grandmothers for Africa South Okanagan with this presentation.
Drawing on her decades of work with troubled youth and her wide experience with conflict resolution and restorative justice, she offers practical and compassionate solutions and gives parents, caregivers, educators and, most of all, young people the tools to break the cycle of violence.
Advance tickets are $25 and it will be $30 at the door so get your tickets from any member of the Grandmothers for Africa, the Lakeside Resort, the Dragon’s Den, or Hooked on Books. Tickets on sale after March 12.
