LETTERS: Thank you fire department and neighbours

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for preventing a bad situation from turning in to a tragedy.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the Penticton Fire Department, and our neighbours, for preventing a bad situation from turning in to a tragedy.

A few weeks ago our studio, workshop and garage, went up in flames in the wee hours of the morning. Our quick-thinking neighbours, Larry and Yvonne McAdam and Gary Gibbons, called 911 and rushed to wake us up, after seeing evidence of a fire on our property.

In an amazingly quick response time, Captain Tom Smith and Company C of the Penticton Fire Department, arrived.  Very soon thereafter, numerous auxiliary fire department members arrived. They quickly assessed the situation, doused the fire and effectively and prevented it from spreading to two adjoining residences.

We feel fortunate to live in an area, with such an effective fire department and first rate team of fire fighters. Many thanks to all of those people, as well as our neighbours, who helped, in a variety of ways, during that traumatic experience.
