Rental units should be safe

I am writing about some of the landlords in Penticton. Is the landlord supposed to fix things at his property that makes it unsafe for tenants? I would think the answer would be yes.

I am aware of one place that is rented by low-income residents and they do pay a price to live there. Most have children, are single parents and when the safety of their children is in question, well it is time that the landlord do some repairs.

I had a friend move here from the coast and looked at a unit there. The lady manager said that she had cleaned the place up, but according to people I know that live there, it is far from true.

It is sad we have slumlords in Penticton, There are lots of single mothers that would like to have a nice place and look after their units, and yes there are lots that do not care. Having to ask to have something fixed that is a safety issue should be looked at immediately.

I hope that others will write until this landlord cleans up his property and makes it safe. Those of us that have lived here for years know who this landlord is and it is time he step up to the plate and start to make his rentals clean and safe.
