A pair of Penticton Vees home games have been rescheduled for the final week of the B.C. Hockey League (BCHL) season, the team announced on Tuesday (Jan. 25).

The BCHL said on Monday that its regular season would be extended by one week to make up for the games that were postponed earlier in the campaign.

As a result, the Vees will now conclude their regular-season calendar on March 27 when they host the Merritt Centennials.

Along with the Vees’ season-ending showdown with the Centennials, Penticton will now play the West Kelowna Warriors on March 25, as part of the BCHL’s latest schedule shuffling.

Tuesday’s announcement marks the second time in as many weeks the Vees have been forced to make adjustments to their schedule.

On Jan. 13, a game against the aforementioned Warriors was rescheduled from Jan. 7 to Feb. 18 because of COVID-19 concerns.

Penticton’s game against Merritt on March 27 to wrap up the regular season will start at 4 p.m., as opposed to the usual 7 p.m. start time.

The BCHL’s extension to the schedule allows a number of previously postponed games to be played. A total of 10 league games, including the Vees’ aforementioned matchups, have been added to the league’s calendar.

A game between Penticton and Wenatchee has also been added to the team’s schedule for March 23.

The Vees were previously denied access to the United States when travelling to their game in Wenatchee against the Wild on Jan. 15.
