Penticton hockey fans rejoice: your holiday weekend is set to begin with a clash between the BCHL's top two teams.

The Penticton Vees host the Trail Smoke Eaters at the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC) on Feb. 14. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

It marks one of three Vees games this Family Day weekend.

Penticton (30-7-3-0) sits atop the Interior Conference and BCHL, two points ahead of Trail (29-8-2-1).

Friday marks the teams' second consecutive contest with each other after they met up last Saturday in the West Kootenays. The Smoke Eaters registered a 4-1 win.

The Vees will then hit the road on Saturday and battle Vernon (12-21-6-0) at Kal Tire Place. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Penticton clashed with its North Okanagan rivals on Feb. 7, and suffered a 3-2 overtime loss after squandering a two-goal lead late in the third period.

On Family Day, Feb. 17, the Vees return home and host West Kelowna.

Monday will be the teams' first meeting this season, with puck drop set for 2 p.m.

After the game, the Vees are hosting a Family Day skate at the SOEC. Fans can hang out with their favourite players, get autographs and take pictures at the event.

Helmets and skates will not be available for rent, the BCHL club said in a press release. Kids aged 12 and under must be with an adult/guardian, it added.

Tickets for the Vees games on Feb 14, and on Family Day, can be purchased at the SOEC box office or valleyfirsttix.com.
