Former Penticton Vee Joey Benik made his professional debut with the Bakersfield Condors on April 2.

Benik signed an amateur try-out contract with the Condors, American Hockey League affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, on April 1. Benik just completed a standout career with the St.Cloud State Huskies and registered four shots in a 2-0 loss on home ice at Rabobank Arena against the Ontario Reign.

Benik, who played two seasons with the Vees, his final when they won the RBC Cup in 2012, had his best season with the Huskies as a senior with 21 goals and 43 points in 38 games. He finished his career with the Huskies with 57 goals and 122 points in 134 career games.

The Condors also have former Vee Joey Laleggia.
