Comeback win for Vees in exhibition action

Patrick Newell scored a third-period goal to give the Penticton Vees a 3-2 win over the West Kelowna Warriors in B.C. Junior Hockey League exhibition play Friday at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

It was the only lead of the game for the Vees, who were trailing 2-0 after the first period. The Warriors opened the scoring on the power play when Liam Blackburn pound on a rebound to slam the puck past Vees goalie Hunter Mishka at 16:13. The Warriors extended their lead when Kylar Hope found a loose puck and stuffed it past Miska at 18:44.

In the second period after the Vees killed a penalty for too many men, Mitch Newsome, charged out of the penalty box and scored on a breakaway with 2:38 left in the period.

Jack Ramsey knotted the game at two apiece at 7:32 on a feed by Lewis Zerter-Gossage, setting the tone for Newell's game winner with 10:11 remaining.

The two teams meet again today in West Kelowna.
