The Canadian Sport School Hockey League announces expansion of female teams.

The Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) announced additional teams and details for the Female Division for the 2016-17 season.

St. Mary’s Academy, a private Catholic girls’ school in Winnipeg, MB, will join the Female Prep Division next season, as well as existing CSSHL member, the Northern Alberta Xtreme.

The Banff Hockey Academy, Coeur d’ Alene Hockey Academy, Delta Hockey Academy and Shawnigan Lake School, each existing CSSHL members, will ice teams in the Female Varsity Division next season.

Earlier in February, the CSSHL announced that the Female Division will take on a new look with the insertion of a full, competitive regular season game schedule, along with post-season games to determine a division champion and the addition of a few significant flagship programs.

The CSSHL also announced that the Female Division would be split into a Prep and Varsity, similar to the male divisions at the Bantam and Midget levels.

The Female Prep Division will consist of: Edge School for Athletes (Calgary), Northern Alberta Xtreme (Edmonton), Notre Dame Hounds (Wilcox, SK), Okanagan Hockey Academy (Penticton), Pursuit of Excellence (Kelowna) and St. Mary’s Academy (Winnipeg).

The Female Varsity Division will consist of: Banff Hockey Academy (Banff), Delta Hockey Academy (Delta), Coeur d’ Alene Hockey Academy (Coeur d’ Alene, ID) and Shawnigan Lake School (Shawnigan Lake, BC).

Additional programs will be announced in the coming weeks.
