THE PENTICTON AND Area Cycling Association hosted the seventh annual cyclocross race at Selby Park in West Bench last weekend. Seventy cyclists from around B.C. completed a 45-minute to one hour race.

Seventy cyclists from B.C. participated in the Penticton and Area Cycling Association's seventh annual cyclocross race at Selby Park in West Bench last weekend.

Cyclocross races are off road races that are similar to road bikes with knobby tires. The race was completed between 45 minutes to an hour with obstacles including an ascent through a vineyard, the vortex (a series of tight loops in the course), barriers that cyclists dismount to jump over, and tricky sections of trail and corners.

This year was a big success with the number of riders, which included 20 youth. The Penticton race was the sixth race in the BC Interior Cyclocross race series.

PACA thanked the RDOS, West Bench community members, and all of their sponsors, partners and volunteers for helping to make the event possible. For more information about Penticton cycling events please visit www.bikepenticton.com.
