FIRST STOP ON ELEVATOR — The Ramada Inn Elevator race began in the waters of Okanagan Lake with 200 athletes

Dave Curry of Maple Ridge was the lone solo participant during the Ramada Inn Elevator Race held last weekend.

Curry completed the event in seven hours, 43 minutes in front of the Gunbarrel Saloon at Apex Mountain.

The team of Tom Evans and Jonathan Caron defended their title. They completed the race in four hours, nine minutes. In second was Here for the Beer (Brad Lee, Andrew McPhail, Chris Neenan and Dave Matheson) finished in four hours, 27 minutes. In third was Salty's Beach House (Stu Rahkola, Tyson Bull, Jeff Plant, Colin Buckingham, Richard Haverekamp, Jeff Waterman and Gerald Watson) coming in at four hours, 35 minutes.

In the 70-years plus category the 3 Score + 10 (Denis Rahkola, Chris Bull, Dave Ellis, Frank Reimer, Ken McClure, Bill Boyd and Dale Mathews) were first.

"The day was an amazing success," said race director Lyndi Hill of Hoodoo Adventures. "We couldn't have asked for better weather or a more enthusiastic crowd. The finish area was buzzing with excitement as Steve King announced teams across the line. We really need to thank all the volunteers who came out to support the event from the search and rescue crew on the lake to all the folks up at the Nickel Plate Nordic Center. A huge thank you also needs to go out to James and his staff at Apex Mountain Resort for all of their help with the race course set up and of course to our title sponsor the Penticton Ramada. The Ramada's support has enabled this race to grow from a great idea into an epic adventure race."
