The National Hockey League’s Los Angeles Kings have inked a former Penticton Vees forward to a one-year deal.

Taylor Ward signed with the Kings on Saturday (March 19) after playing in a total of 162 career games under Fred Harbinson’s Vees from 2015 to 2018.

The Kelowna-born forward will spend the rest of the 2021-2022 campaign playing for the Ontario Reign, Los Angeles’ American Hockey League affiliate on an amateur tryout.

Ward’s one-year, entry-level deal with the Kings will go into effect for the 2022-2023 season.

The 23-year-old has spent the last four seasons playing for the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

In three seasons with the Vees, Ward totaled 77 points, while playing in 55 playoff games and helping the team capture the 2017 Fred Page Cup.
