FORMER PENTICTON VEES goalie Anthony Brodeur is set to play for the University of Ottawa Gee Gees next fall.

The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees men's hockey team will have Anthony Brodeur in their crease next season.

The GeeGees announced on their Twitter account that the former Quebec league and Penticton Vees goalie will play for them next fall.

"I know the city, I love the nation's capital. With it being a great school and the program restarting — it's the best fit," Brodeur was quoted on the GeeGees Twitter account.

"He's a high-character individual and great teammate," said GeeGees coach Patrick Grandmaitre. "Athletic goaltender, good glove, plays the puck very well."

The GeeGees announced on June 3/15 that it was relaunching the varsity men's program after it was suspended the previous year. The suspension was over allegations of misconduct related to a sexual assault investigation, the CBC reported.

The university has stated since the suspension, they have put in place measures aimed at creating the appropriate environment to relaunch the program.
